We fit high security cylinders into mortise locks and deadbolts on the doors that need more than a basic lock.
What makes a lock high security?
The cylinder. It has a more complicated key and pin design than a basic lock, and the keys are usually restricted, so copies are made only with a card or your approval. You keep control over who has a key.
Which doors are worth upgrading?
- An apartment door on a floor with a lot of foot traffic.
- A ground floor apartment or a side entrance.
- A shop door or a back door to an office.
- A roof or basement door in an apartment building.
Do I need a whole new lock?
Often not. If your mortise lock is in good shape, we can change only the cylinder and keep the plate and knob you have. If you have just a knob lock, we can add a deadbolt with a high security cylinder.
What happens on the job?
Your call and your photo tell us which parts to bring. When we get to the door, we point out what is worn or broken and tell you what we plan to do. Then we do the work and try every lock and key with you before we pack up.
Questions we get
Can anyone copy these keys?
Restricted keys are made only for the person on record, usually with a card. Ask us which option fits your door.
Can one key open two locks?
Yes. We can key both of your cylinders alike, so you carry one key.
Which brands do you install?
We work with well known high security makers. Call and we will tell you what we have for your door.
