Rekey & Master Key Systems

Rekeying gives you the same lock with new keys, so the old keys stop working. A master key system gives one person one key for the doors you choose.

When does a rekey make sense?

How does a rekey work?

We take the cylinder out, change the pins inside to match a new key, and put it back. The lock stays on the door and looks the same. The old key no longer turns it.

How does a master key system work?

Each tenant key opens that tenant's door and the shared doors you pick. The super carries one master that opens the doors you choose. We label the keys and keep the layout simple, so the set stays organized on one chain or in one cabinet.

What happens on the job?

Your call and your photo tell us which parts to bring. When we get to the door, we point out what is worn or broken and tell you what we plan to do. Then we do the work and try every lock and key with you before we pack up.

Questions we get

Can you do a whole building?

Yes. Give us a door list and we plan it floor by floor, then quote it in writing.

Do all the locks have to match?

They need cylinders that can take the same system. We look at your locks and tell you which need changing.

Where do I get more copies?

Standard keys can be cut at our shop inside Tejada Hardware. Master keys are made only with the owner's approval.
